Airtel Uganda has confirmed that it launched 5G services in Kampala on Sunday (30 July), just two days after rival MTN Uganda switched on its own 5G system in the capital. Airtel says it has begun the process of upgrading 2,500 sites to 5G, with work due to commence shortly at 50 sites in central Kampala, while it is also launching a 5G pilot in the Buganda region.
