Bezeq has announced that it has received notification from its mobile subsidiary Pelephone that the latter has been informed by the committee conducting the tender for 26GHz spectrum that it has secured frequencies in the band. In a press release from the company regarding the matter, Bezeq confirmed that Pelephone has secured 800MHz in the 26GHz band for a ten-year period at a cost of ILS4.16 million (USD1.1 million); payment for the new frequencies is to be made within 60 days, Bezeq noted.

According to Bezeq, allocation of the new spectrum will enable Pelephone to, among other things, ‘expand the range of advanced uses on the 5G cellular network, with emphasis on private networks, and advanced services that require a particularly high broadband speed, such as hospitals’. Meanwhile, the company said that the cost of integrating this new frequency range into 5G technology ‘will be ongoing, and is not expected to be substantial’.
