EE upgrades 5G network across 14 locations, extends coverage to new locations

BT Group’s mobile arm EE has announced the deployment of 2100MHz frequencies for 5G use at sites that were previously used to provide 3G signals. According to the operator, the upgrade will provide ‘an enhanced 5G smartphone experience for customers, ensuring that they get improved indoor coverage, as well as more 5G capacity in busy areas’. Upgrades are initially taking place in 14 of the UK’s cities, those being: Belfast, Bristol, Cardiff, Chesterfield, Eastbourne, Kilmarnock, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newport, Perth, Scunthorpe and Wellingborough.

Alongside the network enhancements, EE also announced that it has extended 5G coverage to 14 new towns and cities, namely: Bedford, Bradford, Bridgend, Carlisle, Dewsbury, East Kilbride, Hemel Hempstead, Kidderminster, Luton, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Newport, Peterborough, Southampton and Sutton in Ashfield.
