European handset brand Emporia, catering mainly to older people, has announced the launch of a 5G smartphone, the emporiaME.6, with fingerprint sensor and a no-panic button, marked with a red circle and heart. When pressed for three seconds, the button automatically calls international emergency number 112 and sends location to the phone’s emergency contacts. The phone will then also flash with an auditory alarm to attract attention.
The phone, priced at EUR 299.90, features Android 14, a triple camera setup with Camera Pro, an octa-core processor, NFC technology, voice input and ASHA support for quality sound even with hearing aids.
The phone can easily switch to a simplified interface featuring large, legible fonts and icons. This mode consolidates all notifications, including missed calls, emails and messages, into one Info Centre.
