Movistar Spain (Telefonica) has launched a new router for customers switching from ADSL in non-fibre areas, reports Bandaancha. With the operator set to imminently close its last remaining ADSL plants, customers are being offered the ‘Movistar Internet Radio 5G’ service with a MitraStar-manufactured dual-band Wi-Fi 6 router.
The device comes with 4×4 MIMO technology, offering speeds of up to 1 Gbps (download) and 280 Mbps (upload). It can work over 4G the B1, B3, B7, B8, B20 and B28 bands, and in 5G SA via the N3, N28 and N78 bands.
The new ‘Movistar Internet Radio’ service includes unlimited broadband data plus a fixed line with unlimited calls to landline numbers and 50 minutes to mobile ones for EUR 31.90 a month (4G) or EUR 41.90 (5G). Movistar will install the new router for free to customers who migrate from ADSL.
