Macau’s Post and Telecommunications Bureau (Correios e Telecomunicacoes, CTT) has announced that just two firms have come forward to participate in the territory’s auction of 5G licences. Only Companhia de Telecomunicacoes de Macau (CTM) and China Telecom Macau applied for one of the four concessions on offer, with Hutchison 3 and SmarTone Macau seemingly having opted not to take part. Macau’s first commercial 5G services are expected to be introduced in early 2023.
