Telefonica’s second brand, O2 Spain, has officially confirmed that customers can access the parent company’s 5G standalone (SA) service via compatible phones. The operator, which was one of the first second brands to offer the NSA version of 5G at the end of 2022, is now advertising access to the parent company’s 5G SA network – branded as 5G+ – at no additional cost.

Telefonica officially debuted its 5G SA service in more than 700 localities throughout Spain last summer, subsequently extending it to most cities with more than 250,000 inhabitants. It allows customers with compatible handsets to browse the internet at speeds of up to 1.6 Gbps.

O2 has also launched an ad campaign on TV and social media to advertise the new benefit, touting the ability to “connect with the ultra-speed of 5G+”.
