Tele2 Latvia has announced plans to invest EUR20 million (USD21.7 million) in the development of its mobile network in 2023, with a focus on modernisation and the deployment of 5G technology. As part of the investment, Tele2 is planning to deploy 300 new 5G base stations and modernise 300 4G sites. Commenting on the plans, Tele2ā€™s technical director, Liga Krumina, was quoted as saying: ā€˜Investments in network development will strengthen the capacity of our 4G network, as well as allow those customers who have 5G terminal equipment to take advantage of 5G.ā€™ The cellco notes that its 5G network is currently available in 54 locations across the country, and uses a combination of 700MHz and 3500MHz spectrum.
