Bell Canada reported CAD6.439 billion (USD4.842 billion) in revenues in the fourth quarter of 2022, up 3.7% year-on-year, with a slight improvement in EBITDA, up 0.3% to CAD2.437 billion, while quarterly net income attributable to shareholders fell 15.5% to CAD528 million. Bell highlighted robust Q4 subscription growth with net 122,621 total mobile phone additions during the three-month period, alongside 104,447 mobile connected devices, 63,466 retail fixed internet and 40,209 IPTV organic additions. Furthermore, as a result of Bellā€™s acquisition of Distributel Communications (including Primus Canada) its retail fixed broadband, IPTV and fixed voice subscription bases were incremented by 128,065, 2,315 and 64,498 respectively in Q4.

Bell highlighted strong Q4 mobile division results, with revenue up 7.7%, 4.1% adjustedĀ EBITDAĀ growth, and 41.2% higher mobile phone post-paid net activations of 154,617 (partly offset by pre-paid reduction), whilst its 5G network coverage was expanded to 82% of the Canadian population at 31 December 2022.

Bell also highlighted a full-year 2022 figure of 854,000 new direct fibre broadband premises passed by its network, which fuelled its highest annual retail fixed internet net activations in 16 years, 201,762, up 32.5% y-o-y, which drove 8% higher residential fixed internet revenue. Bell stated that 80% of its planned fixed broadband network build-out programme was now complete. It aims to expand its local fibre access footprint to another 650,000 premises in 2023.
