Bite Lithuania has launched 5G services for mobile customers with compatible handsets and devices. The network currently covers a number of main towns and cities, including Vilnius, Kaunas, Grigiskes, Lentvaris, Jonava, Paryzius, Klaipeda, Palanga, Alytus, Trakai, Marijampole, Panevezys, Siauliai, Birzai and Silute, but the firm plans to increase coverage to 60% of the population by the spring. Bite is deploying its 5G network in partnership with Swedish equipment vendor Ericsson. A range of four 5G smartphone contract tariffs are available, offering 20GB, 50GB, 200GB or unlimited data allowances, with unlimited calls and SMS, while pre-paid tariffs will follow on 28 February and business plans on 1 March.

‘We are always focused on the real user experience, which from today, together with the arrival of Bite 5G connection to smartphones, has become even better. The new generation 5G connection on the phone means even easier browsing, higher productivity, faster dissemination of information and even more entertainment,’ said Gintas Butenas, CEO of Bite.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate, Bite launched 5G fixed wireless broadband services for residential customers in October 2022, one month after securing spectrum in the 700MHz and 3.5GHz bands from the Communications Regulatory Authority (RRT).
