Comcast has announced that Nokia will supply it with 5G Standalone (SA) core networking software, including a packet core. The two companies are currently conducting field trials, which includes Comcast employee testing. The press release notes: ‘These offerings will support Comcast’s efforts to deliver enhanced 5G access to consumer and business customers in the US using Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) and 600MHz spectrum.’

TeleGeography notes that Comcast acquired 73 2×5MHz 600MHz licences in Auction 1002 (2016/2017), paying USD1.725 billion, and went on to pay USD458.7 million for 830 1×10MHz 3.5GHz concessions in Auction 105 (2020). The cable giant currently offers MVNO services via the Xfinity Mobile brand.
