Kuwaiti-backed cellco Zain Jordan has selected Nokia to supply its 5G equipment for its nationwide rollout. Zain signed a multi-year deal with Nokia for the provision of the 5G RAN equipment for over 3,000 sites nationwide. The Finnish vendor will also supply its AirScale Baseband, Massive MIMO radio and Remote Radio Head products, and will modernise Zain’s existing 4G infrastructure.

Tommi Uitto, President of Mobile Networks at Nokia was quoted as saying of the deal: ‘We are delighted to be partnering with Zain Jordan on this project to modernise their complete RAN and introduce 5G technology, and by doing so support the Jordanian Government’s digital transformation objectives. The deployment of 5G is expected to stimulate the incubation and growth of new technologies and industries.’
