Nokia has announced its selection by Orange Egypt to modernise the latter’s existing Nokia SDM solution with a view to supporting subscriber growth over the next five years. According to the Finnish vendor, the enhancements to Orange Egypt’s SDM network include a total modernisation of the solution with upgraded hardware and ongoing software releases. It is claimed the new system will allow Orange Egypt’s users to benefit from improved reliability and security, as well as enable the cellco to enhance operational efficiency to meet the evolving capacity and service needs of its subscribers. Notably, Nokia said the new upgraded system will support Orange Egypt’s planned launch of 5G services.

Commenting, Ayman Amiri, Chief Technology Officer at Orange Egypt, said: ‘The modernised, industry-leading Nokia SDM solution will help us better address the evolving needs of our customers. Building on our existing experience leveraging Nokia’s SDM solution, we are looking forward to leveraging these upgrades as we consolidate our customer base across different technologies and move towards 5G.’
