As a new board member for the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), with a background in media and communication, the training elevated my understanding and knowledge of telecommunication regulation. I really liked how comprehensive the training was and how it captured all of the major and most important regulatory aspects of telecommunications regulation. I think what I have taken from this course will help me throughout all my career life since it shows the economic side, the spectrum, the technical side, the management side, both hard and soft powers that regulators should have and I think I never joined such a good course before.

I learnt about telecommunications regulations across several jurisdictions and the convergence of this sector with other related areas. I have gained several insights that I would employ back home in my legal practice.

I chose to attend this course because I wanted to learn more about the digital economy, satellites as well as learning other areas outside of my economics department background. The best thing about this program is learning of the best practices across all the attendees from various countries in the emerging market sector.

Also the further discussions and breakout sessions in between the sessions as well as the breakout session exercise where we use the principles and tools that we learn throughout the course to apply in a real case study.

This is the second TRMC course that I’ve undertaken and what I like best about it is the course content, the course discussions and also the whole set up.

We’re able to participate, have open discussions one-on-one with the facilitators and fellow participants and it gives us the opportunity to discuss issues that we might have in our various regions and countries. 

What I like most about the course is not just the structure, but the facilitators and the relevant content.

Having done it twice, I’ll definitely recommend it to anyone because we get up-to-date data that we’re able to share and I always leave more informed than when I arrive.

It brought about different stakeholders that would have to play a major role in implementing what we’ve learned around spectrum management and then also understanding that spectrum management is not just one ministry or one department responsibility, we all have a role to play being a last-mile user.

It was really good to understand that there are things that I could also influence that could make it into the auction rules that would in the long run help the sort of initiatives and projects that we do in Africa.

Great to make connections with the other trainees as well as the trainers. Useful insights into industry resources from those that have been in it for much longer than I.

The program was excellent and very informative, especially the session on spectrum regulation. I gained valuable knowledge that will help me in my professional role.

By far the biggest, probably most best takeaway from this course are the initiatives that I am looking forward to presenting to upper level management back in Bahrain a so that we can work from there and progress towards making sure that we are safe and cyber secure in Bahrain.

I had an awesome learning experience. TRMC is one of the best programmes for regulators, an eye opener on how to handle emerging issues in the sector as well as spectrum and competition challenges. The learning environment in Bath is one of the best, the rich historical landscape and after class sessions made may stay memorable. Thanks to the many experts who delivered high quality training.

All this new knowledge, even if some of it is not particularly relevant for my specific job, I can use most of it for better understanding of the entire area. Every presenter demonstrated an enormous amount of knowledge in their field. They were well articulated and delivered. The presentions in a fashion that made it understandable, even when the subject was complicated.
