Verizon is expanding its 5G Home fixed wireless access (FWA) service to prepaid customers through Visible, its online prepaid brand.

According to Jeff Moore, principal of Wave7 Research, who first reported that Verizon was selling its FWA service through Visible, Visible customers that sign up for the company’s Visible+ $45/month unlimited rate plan, which provides coverage on Verizon’s Ultra Wideband network when available, can get Verizon’s FWA Home internet service for an additional $40/month with auto pay.

Verizon doesn’t charge an additional fee for the home router but will charge customers for the equipment if they cancel the service and don’t return the router, according to Michael Timmermann of the web site MichaelSaves.com, who tweeted about the Visible offer and purchased Verizon’s FWA service through Visible.

Visible is owned by Verizon but is an online-focused wireless prepaid brand with no retail stores. So far, Visible’s marketing of the bundled offer is pretty limited.

Although the $40/month price-tag for Verizon’s FWA service is enticing, it isn’t the only low-cost FWA offer from Verizon. The company also sells a prepaid version through its Straight Talk service called Straight Talk Home Internet Service. The service costs $45/month and is offered exclusively through Walmart.

Verizon also is offering its FWA service for just $25/month with auto pay to postpaid subscribers on its highest priced unlimited data plans, including its $90/month 5G Get More plan, its $80/month 5G Play More or $80/month 5G Do More plan and its $90/month One Unlimited iPhone plan.

Verizon’s move to prepaid FWA through its other brands isn’t unique. T-Mobile started selling its FWA service through its Metro by T-Mobile prepaid brand last March. However, unlike Visible, Metro by T-Mobile has about 7,000 retail stores nationwide. Metro by T-Mobile is selling the FWA service to eligible customers for $55 per month or $50 per month with auto pay. In addition, customers have to purchase the gateway for $99.
