Polish company IS-Wireless has used its Radio Access Network (RAN) to provide the first Open RAN 5G private network for industry 4.0 in Poland, which has been launched in Krakow. The installation was implemented by Hubraum, Deutsche Telekom’s technology incubator.
The Open RAN 5G network is operating at Hub4Industry in the Astor Robotics Center and has been officially inaugurated. The network was co-developed by Hubraum tech incubator, IS-Wireless, Benetel and T-Mobile Poland.
The 5G network has been created using the Open RAN model, allowing a combination of products from multiple vendors. The Radio Access Network portion of the installation has been provided by IS-Wireless, a Polish 5G vendor specialising in Open RAN products, while its Core was delivered by T-Mobile, and the remote radio units are the work of Benetel. Experts consider that networks such as the one launched in the Hub4Industry at the Astor Robotics Center may soon appear in greater numbers in Poland. Companies across the Polish market are looking forward to implementing private 5G networks. A dedicated radio frequency band will soon be available for this purpose according to national regulator.
IS-Wireless develops and delivers 5G mobile networks in the Open RAN model. The company is a provider of software and hardware necessary for building both RAN and Core networks.
