Orange Jordan is planning to invest heavily in 5G technology over the next few years, the cellco’s CEO Thierry Marigny said in an interview with Petra. The executive added that parent company Orange Group will inject more capital into the Jordanian unit for the deployment and will provide additional support by sharing its expertise and experience from conducting 5G rollouts in other markets, including France, Slovakia, Spain and Poland. Under the terms of an agreement signed by Orange Jordan with sector watchdog the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC) earlier this month, the cellco is required to launch commercial 5G services within 18 months. The CEO went on to note that the introduction of 5G in Jordan would create new opportunities for development for the local ICT sector and ‘all industries where digital solutions have become an integral component.’
