French operator SFR, part of Altice, has followed rivals Bouygues Telecom and Orange in launching a 5G-powered broadband service for residential customers. Priced EUR 39.99 per month, the package is marketed with no data cap and a theoretical download speed of 1.1 Gbps (100 Mbps upload). The rental of a Wi-Fi 6 router is included at no additional charge. Customers can also take advantage of an unlimited call allowance and the SFR TV mobile app, with access to over 100 TV channels.
A discounted version of the 5G Box package is available for new sign-ups aged between 18 and 25. For this age group, the subscription is reduced to EUR 29.99 per month, and the one-off installation fee is waived (normally EUR 19). As for the standard package, no minimum contract period applies.
SFR is the second operator after Bouygues Telecom to offer a discounted version of its 5G residential service for under-26s. The latter can currently subscribe to Bouygues’ 5G Box for EUR 24.99 per month, recently reduced from EUR 27.99.
