Indian cellco Vodafone Idea (Vi) has completed 5G tests in the 3.3GHz and 26GHz bands in Pune in a bid to meet its minimum rollout obligations, the Economic Times writes, citing a notice from the Department of Telecommunications’ (DoT’s) Maharashtra unit. The paper notes that Vi officials had confirmed in a recent earnings call that the operator would not meet its rollout obligations in 15 of the 17 circles for which it purchased spectrum in August last year. Rival operators Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio Infocomm (Jio) announced earlier this month that they had met their respective requirements whilst the fourth company to acquire spectrum in last year’s sale, Adani Data Networks, has yet to meet its obligations.
