Telefonica Moviles Mexico (Movistar) has launched 5G services in selected parts of Mexico City, Culiacan and Hermosillo. The switch-on took place on 15 December, although the spectrum band being used to support the new network has not been disclosed. Going forward, Movistar expects to switch on 5G in parts of Monterrey and Guadalajara before the end of the year and is targeting 33 5G cities by the end of 2023.

(Note: Movistar has previously disclosed plans to leverage its network sharing agreement with AT&T Mexico to enable it to launch 5G connectivity.)
