MTN Cote d’Ivoire has announced plans to launch 5G services to coincide with the start of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) football tournament which will be held in the country in January and February 2024. A report from Ecofin cites managing director Djibril Ouattara as saying that several 5G sites have already been installed in the capital Abidjan and the interior of the country to carry out testing. Parent company MTN Group has previously launched 5G services via subsidiaries in South Africa, Nigeria and Zambia.
