Singapore operator Singtel said it will be showcasing the abilities of 5G with a 5G-enabled music performance, livestreamed from a cabin on Singapore’s underground system MRT, on the North-South line.

The event will be held on 23 February featuring local band Sobs. The concert will be transmitted over Singtel’s social media platforms and 5G network from 17 metres underground, as part of a larger six-week campaign that started on 16 February. That campaign is involving content across various MRT lines and Singtel’s social media channels to drive awareness of Singtel 5G’s capabilities and benefits to consumers, from how they communicate, work, and play with technology.

The Sobs concert will be livestreamed via Singtel’s social media platforms on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. The campaign also plans to cover the train platform screen doors at Raffles Place and Clementi MRT stations and in-train windows. Designed in the company’s signature red-coloured theme, the use cases feature activities like gaming, video calls, and streaming of dramas and movies that commuters would typically be engaged in, accompanied by bite-sized witty copy.

Videos expounding the advantages of Singtel 5G will also be posted on its YouTube and Facebook pages. This campaign will run until the end of March 2023.

Singtel’st 5G SA network coverage includes more than 1,300 outdoor locations and over 500 in-building, as well as underground sites. The operator’s 5G network is also present on the MRT’s North-South Line (NSL), East-West Line (EWL), and North-East Line (NEL).
