Orange Espana to launch 5G SA in 30 new towns/cities by mid-2023

Orange Espana says it aims to expand its new 5G Standalone (SA) network, marketed as ‘5G+’, to a further 30 towns and cities by mid-2023, including extending coverage to provincial capitals such as Alicante, Tenerife and Zaragoza. The cellco, which switched on its 5G SA network in February this year in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Seville, has now set its sights on reaching other areas including Castellon, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Palma de Mallorca and Valladolid, while noting that in the interim it has already extended 5G+ coverage to the likes of Alcorcon and Leganes in Madrid, as well as Badalona, Hospitalet, Sabadell, Sant Adria de Besos and Santa Coloma de Gramanet in Barcelona. TelecomTalk adds, meanwhile, that in the coming weeks Orange Espana plans to light up the service in A Coruna, Badajoz, Barakaldo, Cadiz, Huelva, Jaen, Logrono, Malaga, Pamplona, Vigo and Vitoria, boosting 5G SA coverage to nearly 30% of the Spanish population by 30 June 2023.
