Slovak fixed and mobile operator SWAN (trading as 4ka) added 5G coverage in three new cities in December, taking its total footprint to ten cities, equivalent to around 10% of Slovakia’s population. A report from Zive.sk says the cities of Cadca, Levice and Ziar and Hronom gained access to 5G in December, following on from the expansion to Sered, Stropkov and Topolcany the previous month. Bratislava, Trnava, Nitra and parts of Banska Bystrica have been covered for some time.

The report adds that network deployment is also expected in Piestany, Dubnica nad Vahom and Senec in the coming weeks. Looking further ahead, by August 2025 4ka aims to have coverage in every location where its existing 4G TDD network is now present. Rival operators Orange, O2 and Slovak Telekom all have 5G population coverage levels well above 50%.
