Airtel Uganda has completed an upgrade of its core network to pave the way for 5G services. The firm says that successful testing has been carried out at twelve mobile towers and it is now just waiting for spectrum to be allocated by the regulator to push ahead with its 5G launch.

Airtel managing director Manoj Murali is cited by News24/7 as saying: ā€˜According to the National Development PlanĀ III, use ofĀ ICTĀ infrastructure is a key objective. An agile smartphone network like Airtel Ugandaā€™s is pivotal in the journey of Ugandaā€™s economic growth through digital and financial inclusion of every person. We are completely aligned to Ugandaā€™s broadband strategy and accordingly ready to launch 5G technology.ā€™
