The Luxembourg Institute of Regulation (Institut Luxembourgeois de Regulation, ILR) has published the latest findings of Checkmynet, the online tool that enables users to measure the performance of fixed and mobile data services. In the first three months of the year, speed tests carried out on the country’s 5G mobile networks measured an average download speed of 226Mbps (47Mbps upload) and a latency of 22 milliseconds, the regulator highlighted.

Since its launch in 2018, the average download speeds observed by Checkmynet have increased by 229% for fixed broadband accesses and 459% for mobile data connections, while average upload speeds have risen by 212% and 166%, respectively. During Q1 2023, average speeds of 170Mbps/35Mbps (download/upload) were recorded across mobile networks, with 67% of tests achieving speeds of over 100Mbps, compared with just 6% in 2018.
