Uruguay’s state-owned telecoms operator Antel has completed the rollout of its recently launched 5G network across all 19 of the country’s departmental capitals. The firm has been steadily expanding the high speed service since it was first launched at the end of June 2023 in the cities of Montevideo, Colonia, Canelones, Punta del Este and Maldonado, with Durazno the final of the 19 departmental capitals to gain 5G coverage at the end of last month. Customers within coverage areas of the 3.5GHz network and with a 5G-compatible device will be able to trial the service for 30 days for free.
