AT&T has introduced AT&T Turbo, a paid option for customers to boost their mobile data speeds, for real-time responsiveness. Designed to support high-performance mobile applications such as gaming, social video broadcasting and live video conferencing, the feature can be purchased through the myATT app or online for USD 7 per month per line on eligible plans. It can be added or removed at will.
Customers will get a speed boost for their 5G mobile data and hot spot data, AT&T said, without quantifying the expected increase in speed. Consistent with open internet principles, once turned on the boost applies to a customer’s data regardless of the internet content, applications, and services being used, the company noted.
AT&T said the launch is its first step to bringing new network capabilities to its customers amid the exponential growth of latency-sensitive applications.
