AT&T Mexico said it has joined forces with Ericsson to activate what it describes as the first private 5G network in the country. Located at the Mexico City campus of Tecnologico de Monterrey university, the network will support a number of 5G uses cases across various industrial sectors.

Examples mentioned include the development of applications with AI and blockchain technology that will help to boost productivity in manufacturing, reduce CO2 emissions and save lives in mining, said the operator, which is supporting the project via its ā€˜Fondo 100 + 100ā€™ 5G investment fund.

AT&T added that the private 5G network will support a number of uses cases in the medical and manufacturing sector, including 5G-backed robotics and electrocardiogram projects.
