Claro Brasil has achieved 5G uplink transmission speeds of 669Mbps in a New Radio Dual Connectivity (NR-DC) trial that also involved sister company Embratel and vendor partners Ericsson and Qualcomm. According to the participating companies, the speed represented the ‘record upload speed achieved on a commercial network in Latin America’. Download speeds, meanwhile, reached 3.3Gbps. The trial took place at Claro’s headquarters in Sao Paulo and aggregated four 100MHz blocks of 26GHz millimetre wave (mmWave) spectrum alongside a 100MHz block of 3.5GHz spectrum.
