The Philippines’ third telco DITO Telecommunity is levering its in-deployment 5G infrastructure to launch a wireless home broadband service in select areas in the National Capital Region (NCR), aka Metro Manila. Currently available as part of a soft-launch in 146 barangays (administrative districts) in Metro Manila, DITO’s residential 5G offer promises download speeds of up to 500Mbps. The telco is offering a starter kit for PHP12,990 (USD253) that includes the 5G modem and SIM card, and in the launch phase is offering those who sign up 50GB of ‘open-access’ data (valid for 30 days) and a three-month subscription to HBO. Further, it is launching the fledgling service with a double data promotion – again valid for 30 days – starting from PHP590 for 100GB (usually 50GB).

The launch comes almost a year to the day since the third telco launched its mobile service in March 2021.
