Ericsson has extended its ten-year partnership with Canadian cableco/cellco Eastlink with an agreement to strengthen 5G mobile network services across the hundreds of communities that Eastlink serves. Following the launch of Eastlink’s 5G network via Ericsson’s Radio Access Network (RAN) technology last year, the Swedish vendor will begin to supply 3500MHz mid-band radios and enhanced core network support for voice and data, it announced in a press release.

Eastlink activated its first 5G sites in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in March 2022, and has continued to develop 5G infrastructure with Ericsson; under the latest increment of the partnership, deployment of 3.5GHz spectrum will further enhance coverage, lower latency and deliver faster mobile data speeds.
