Ericsson has confirmed One Communications’ commercial launch of 5G services in Bermuda following a recent announcement from the operator. The deployment, the first in Bermuda and one of the first in the Caribbean, initially blankets 75% of the territory with services activated in the capital, Hamilton, to be followed by a gradual rollout of services across the island. In a press release, the Swedish vendor noted that 100% of One Communications’ 5G mobile network infrastructure in Bermuda is powered by Ericsson’s Radio Access Network (RAN) and Core Network solutions. The 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) deployment is supported by the existing infrastructure 4G network, commercially launched in 2016, allowing a faster, easier, and more efficient 5G deployment.
