MASMOVIL’s Euskaltel has launched a 5G-based rural internet service in the Basque Country and Navarre under the banner ‘Hegan’, which it claims will deliver speeds of up to 600Mbps (average speed 102Mbps) to about 40,000 homes in the region; broken down, it is serving around 23,000 premises in the Basque Country and 17,000 in Navarra. With Euskaltel looking to expand the availability of ultra-high speed internet in areas not served by its fibre-optic network, the company’s entry-level pack costs EUR34 (USD36.5) per month for an up-to-150Mbps connection, rising to EUR59 when bundled with ‘unlimited’ data.
