Austrian operator LINZ AG Telekom – an associate of energy group LINZAG fur Energie and cableco/MVNO LIWEST – is testing an ‘autonomous 5G robot lawnmower’ solution at its 5G campus. Functions being tested include obstacle detection, collision avoidance and route recording. The test vehicle can move completely autonomously within the 5G campus network, recognise obstacles and react to them; if necessary, control can be taken over remotely in absolute real-time, ensuring the robot lawnmower ‘can be used in hazardous areas without putting people at risk’.
