Koodo Mobile, a mobile sub-brand – or ‘flanker brand’ – of Canada’s Telus, has introduced 5G access for its customers, following the recent 5G launches by Telus’ other flanker brand Public Mobile in May and rival flanker Virgin Plus (owned by Bell Canada) in late July alongside the 5G debut of challenger mobile network operator Freedom Mobile. Market leader Rogers Communications’ main flanker brand Fido is expected to follow suit with a 5G offering in the short term.

Koodo is currently advertising 5G mobile data at speeds of up to 250Mbps in selected packages for bring-your-own-device (BYOD) or ‘Tab’ device bundle customers. Initial options are priced at CAD65 (USD48.60) with 30GB data allowance or CAD75 with 60GB; these monthly prices are discounted to CAD53.70 and CAD63.70 respectively for a 24-month period for BYOD customers.
