MTN Cote d’Ivoire has released more information on its ongoing 5G trials, following a demo on Friday (18 February) of a number of services over its test network, including virtual reality. The firm says trials will be taking place at nine locations in Abidjan over the next few months, though it has not yet announced a planned commercial launch date.

Djibril Ouattara, general manager of MTN Cote d’Ivoire, commented: ‘5G will offer more opportunities for the use of connected objects in several fields of activity. Particularly in industry, health, agriculture, livestock, aeronautics, automotive, distribution, etc.’ MTN first announced its 5G trials in Cote d’Ivoire in December 2021.
