Felix Mutati, Zambia’s Minister of Technology and Science, has announced that MTN Zambia will officially launch 5G services on Thursday 24 November. The date was revealed at the Innovation Africa Summit in Lusaka last week.

Previously, in January 2022 MTN Zambia kickstarted a 5G pilot project, in partnership with Chinese vendor Huawei. In July, meanwhile, MTN successfully bid USD12.55 million for 50MHz of 5G-suitable spectrum in the 2600MHz band.
