Edgar Montano, Bolivia’s Minister of Public Works, Services and Housing, has launched a second tender for the implementation of a new National Integrated Radio Spectrum System (Sistema Integrado Nacional del Espectro Radioelectrico, SINER), as the authorities seek to ‘regularise’ the frequencies currently in use and pave the way for the introduction of 5G technology. The contract is worth BOB156.8 million (USD22.1 million). TeleGeography notes that the this is the second time that the Bolivian government has attempted to initiate SINER; the first tender was unveiled in June 2022, but seemingly failed to attract a suitable bidder.
