Kyrgyz cellco Nur Telecom (O!) has opened its second 5G demo zone, in the city of Osh, located at the company’s store on Masalieva Street. O! was the second mobile operator in Kyrgyzstan to announce tests of 5G network technology, as reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate in August, followed by a 5G demo zone opened in Bishkek the following month.

O! – which currently operates a 4G LTE mobile network covering over 99% of the population – says that 5G will exceed the capabilities of existing communication standards ‘by ten times’ and adds in a press release that ‘the unique properties of the technology will help unlock the huge potential of the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, medicine, agriculture, smart city, industry, energy, education, and business.’
