Cellco O2 Slovakia announced that its 5G mobile network reached coverage of 52.5% of the country’s population by mid-June 2023, having been extended to 226 additional locations since the start of the year. A press release says that ‘416 locations in cities and towns throughout Slovakia’ now have 5G access provided by O2. The company added that ‘over 18%’ of devices active on its network in May 2023 supported 5G. TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database says that O2 Slovakia launched its 5G network in September 2021 and had reached 37% population coverage by end-2022.

Commercial director of O2 Slovakia Milan Moravek stated: ‘O2’s aim is for as many customers as possible to enjoy the benefits of the state-of-the-art 5G network. Thanks to investments in network development and the use of modern technologies, our 5G network is already available to 52.5% of Slovaks in 416 locations across Slovakia. The 5G network can also be used during this period by visitors to holiday areas, e.g. in the vicinity of Mala Domasa, Liptovska Mary or Oravska Priehrady. In O2, customers can also buy a phone at the best price by combining discounts and the popular Phone Purchase.’
