Paris la Defense, the local authority in charge of development projects in the popular business district west of the French capital, has published a call to experiment to find partners for a 5G network using trial spectrum in the 26 GHz band. Telecom regulator Arcep recently extended the local authority’s permit for this trial spectrum (originally awarded in 2019) until September 2023.

Paris la Defense is collaborating with Efficacity, Equans, Cellnex and Siradel on the deployment of a 5G network based on a neutral operator approach. As part of the call to experiment, market players authorised to use spectrum are invited to show their interest, so that their connectivity services can be delivered on the planned open access infrastructure. Additionally, this call is also looking for partners to test innovative use cases adapted to a high density population urban environment.

According to the proposed timetable, the pilots are scheduled to take place between December 2022 and September 2023.
