Qualcomm has released a new chip in its top tier of smartphone processors, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. The company said the chip will bring more AI functions and premium features to Android flagship smartphones, with manufacturers such as Honor, iQoo, Realme and Xiaomi already planning releases in the coming months.

The new chip comes with support for on-device generative AI features, an “always-sensing” imaging processor, advanced mobile gaming, fast 5G connectivity and lossless high-definition sound. AI models supported include the popular large language models (LLM) Baichuan-7B, Llama 2, Gemini Nano and Zhipu ChatGLM.

The 8s model follows the release of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 at the end of 2023.
