High-ranking officials from South Korea’s SK Telecom (SKT) have reportedly met with the president of the Republic of Palau, Surangel Whipps Jr, to discuss cooperating on the upgrade of the Oceanic state’s telecoms infrastructure. SKT chief executive officer Ryu Young-sang has reportedly suggested cooperation with the Palauan government to upgrade PalauCel’s current 4G LTE infrastructure to 5G. ‘Based on SKT’s technologies and experience accumulated through the world’s first commercialisation of 5G, we can work together to build 5G infrastructure in Palau,’ Ryu Young-sang is quoted as saying.
