America Movil (AM)-backed Telcel has revealed that its 5G network is now available in a total of 64 towns and cities across Mexico. Writing in its 3Q22 earnings release, AM noted: ‘We have continued with the migration of traffic and subscribers over to our 5G network.’ The cellco hopes to serve 100 locations with 5G by the end of 2022.

As previously reported by TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate Telcel’s Non-Standalone (NSA) 5G network went live in February this year and was billed as ‘the largest 5G network in Latin America’. 5G connectivity was initially enabled in 18 major cities – including Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Merida and Tijuana – covering approximately 48 million people from launch.
