Telekom Deutschland, the domestic fixed and mobile unit of Deutsche Telekom (DT), says it expanded the capacity and coverage of its mobile network at 1,442 locations nationwide in August. The firm rolled out 248 new sites using 4G and 5G frequencies and increased capacity at 1,194 LTE and 5G network sites. Telekom reports that 92% of the population are now covered by 5G services, with more than 2,300 locations now accessing the 3.7GHz band, and 99% of German households can connect to LTE services. By 2025 5G coverage will be increased to 99% of homes. In total, Telekom says that over 100,000 mobile phone antennas are now transmitting at more than 34,000 locations nationwide on various frequencies on its network.
