TIM Brasil has teamed up with Chinese vendor Huawei to test 5G voice-over-New Radio (VoNR) services using the 3.5GHz band. TeleSintese quotes Marco Di Costanzo, Network Director at TIM Brasil, as saying: ‘We want to offer a complete, end-to-end experience, with the best and most advanced 5G network in the country.’

In November 2021 TIM Brasil successfully bid on 5G-suitable spectrum in the 2.3GHz, 3.5GHz and 26GHz bands. TIM paid BRL1.05 billion (USD190 million) for eleven lots of spectrum and is obliged to offer 5G services in all state capitals and the Federal District (Distrito Federal) by 31 July 2022.
