Telecom Italia (TIM) has selected Ericsson to deploy 5G Standalone (SA) core infrastructure across Italy. A report from Il Sole 24 Ore cites Ericsson Italy managing director Andrea Missori as saying: ‘This new partnership … will allow [TIM] to take full advantage of 5G, to the benefit of both consumers and businesses, and will help accelerate the digital transformation of the country.’ TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that TIM has already deployed 5G Non Standalone (NSA) networks in dozens of cities, towns and tourist sites, having launched its first 5G services in June 2019.
