British mobile network operator (MNO) Vodafone UK has announced the launch of its new Mobile Private Network (MPN) offering, with the cellco claiming to have become the first British operator ‘to standardise a 5G Standalone (SA) MPN product and its approach to deliver across the lifecycle of the solution’.

In a press release regarding the development, the MNO said that its MPN offering includes: indoor and outdoor RAN infrastructure for private connectivity, with 5G non-standalone (NSA) and 5G SA connectivity, depending on use case requirements; and on-site network core infrastructure or access to Vodafone UK’s core network, including ability to integrate and utilise Vodafone’s Multi-access Edge Compute (MEC) solutions. Meanwhile, the cellco said that, if required, its MPN offering can also be connected to its wider public network.

Commenting, Nick Gliddon, Business Director, Vodafone UK, said: ‘[MPNs] are an opportunity for our business customers to accelerate innovation at an unprecedented scale. By installing a private and customisable network, Vodafone can support innovation by cultivating new use cases in an environment which brings the best opportunity.’
