Italian fixed and mobile operator WINDTRE is planning to spin off its network assets into a separate company ahead of a potential sale. A report from Reuters cites two sources familiar with matter who say that the telco has resumed negotiations with Swedish private equity firm EQT over a possible deal. It is thought that around 2,000 of WINDTRE’s 6,500 employees in Italy would be switched to the networks business as part of a spin off.

Meanwhile, WINDTRE has confirmed that its 5G TDD network now reaches two-thirds of the Italian population using 3.7GHz spectrum.
